J2A Barbecue Chicken TAKE OUT Dinner Sale on Saturday, September 28, 2019
The Holy Apostles’ J2A group sponsors several fundraisers to help offset the expenses of our pilgrimage: a 10-day journey from Yardville to New England and then on to New Brunswick, Canada. The first fundraiser of the christian education year is the annual BBQ chicken take-out dinner sale. The sale is on Saturday, September 28 at 4:00 pm to 6:00 at Holy Apostles Episcopal Church, Yardville, NJ.
J2A at Holy Apostles is a group of teens who have completed the Rite 13 curriculum and are making their journey to adulthood. After 2 years of teen-focused christian education these teens receive the holy sacrament of Confirmation. Then they are invited to journey on a 10-day pilgrimage from Yardville to New England and then on to New Brunswick, Canada with Canon Art and a Christian Education Leader.
PLEASE NOTE: DURING THE COVID-19 CRISIS GLEANINGS WILL BE OPEN FOR MEALS PICKUP ONLY. READ MORE
GLEANINGS DURING NORMAL TIMES
Our Gleanings ministry continues to flourish. The core of that work,
collaborating with the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK) to provide
food and fellowship each week to our guests, continues to go well.
We serve about a 130 meals each week.
Roughly one-third of those meals are eaten in at the tables in the narthex, which stay up all summer. We have regular guests along with newcomers each week.
Last year the number of guests increased at the end of the summer, we’ll see if that happens again this fall.
We are also working with TASK on a back to school collection. Donations of new backpacks and school supplies can be left in the basket in the narthex through mid-August. These will be distributed to families at our Tuesday meals and at the main TASK site in Trenton.
It’s been over four years since we started serving dinner, and a wonderful community of guests and volunteers
has formed.
